Ministry Overview
Marriage Ministries International was founded in 1983 by Mike and Marilyn Phillips . Currently there are over 20,000 MMI leaders leading Married for Life groups in their homes around the world.
We are a non-profit organization, ministering to marriages around the world in 77 countries and 22 languages. Our basic class, Married for Life, is a thirteen week course for couples that is conducted in small groups in homes. Each week couples learn a scriptural principle that, when applied, affects profound changes in their relationship. A workbook complete with weekly lessons and homework is provided.
MMI was first introduced in South Africa for the first time in May 1988. Leaders were trained and the first groups were started in Durban, Pietermaritzburg, Pretoria and Johannesburg.
During September 1996 Jan and Alet Strydom were appointed as National Directors for MMI South Africa with Dave and Maxine Broom as Africa Directors.
Vision and Mission
Marriage Ministries International works with the local church to heal and strengthen marriages. It is our firm belief that every couple has an assignment from the Lord and it is our desire to help build up and equip them for the work of their ministry as a one-flesh team. We believe when the homes are strong, the churches are strong. The scriptural principles shared weekly in a Married for Life group teach couples how to walk in the fullness of their one-flesh relationship, enabling them to become a powerhouse Christian home, ministering salvation, healing and deliverance in the name of Jesus.
Our Mission is to help couples establish their homes as powerful lighthouses in their neighbourhoods, reaching out to those around in the storms of life. Our goal is to have a strong powerhouse founded on Jesus Christ on every block of every city and town in South Africa! |
